Congratulations on your child’s success this year! It’s been a fun and rewarding school year, and I will truly miss them over the summer and can't wait to see them next year!

I'd also like to welcome our new 6th grade scholars to middle school! I can't wait to meet them all and help them not only grow in ELA, but also foster a love of reading that will carry them throughout their lifetime.

To support continued learning over the summer, I’ve included a list of summer reading choices below for upcoming 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Please allow them to choose one of the two options to read and complete a book report on. While your child is welcome to read any book of their choice, the book report should be based on one of the following options:

• Incoming 6th Grade - Kira, Kira by Cynthia Kadohata OR The Giver by Lois Lowry
• Incoming 7th Grade - Shooting Kabul by N.H. Snzai OR Keeper by Mal Peet
• Incoming 8th Grade - The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho OR The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom

Attached is book report template to complete as they read their title of choice. Please note: The completed reading guide will count as your child's first grade for the next school year. If you have any questions, please contact me.
